چکیده
The membrane-bound adenosine triphosphatase of marine pseudomonad B-16, when solubilized, is able to rebind to depleted membrane residues of the bacterium and to those of Escherichia coli.

Reevaluation of the nucleotide cofactor specificity of the RecA protein from Bacillus subtilis.
The RecA protein from the Gram-positive bacterium, Bacillus subtilis, has been reported to catalyze dATP hydrolysis and to promote strand exchange in the presence of dATP but to have no ATP hydrolysis or ATP-dependent strand exchange activity (Lovett, C. M., Jr., and Roberts, J. W. (1985) J. Biol. Chem. 260, 3305-3313). The well characterized RecA protein from Escherichia coli, in contrast, cat...
متن کاملActivation of Arp2/3 Complex: Addition of the First Subunit of the New Filament by a WASP Protein Triggers Rapid ATP Hydrolysis on Arp2
In response to activation by WASP-family proteins, the Arp2/3 complex nucleates new actin filaments from the sides of preexisting filaments. The Arp2/3-activating (VCA) region of WASP-family proteins binds both the Arp2/3 complex and an actin monomer and the Arp2 and Arp3 subunits of the Arp2/3 complex bind ATP. We show that Arp2 hydrolyzes ATP rapidly-with no detectable lag-upon nucleation of ...
متن کاملStereochemical course of hydrolytic reaction catalyzed by alpha-galactosidase from cold adaptable marine bacterium of genus Pseudoalteromonas
The recombinant α-galactosidase of the marine bacterium (α-PsGal) was synthesized with the use of the plasmid 40Gal, consisting of plasmid pET-40b (+) (Novagen) and the gene corresponding to the open reading frame of the mature α-galactosidase of marine bacterium Pseudoalteromonas sp. KMM 701, transformed into the Escherichia coli Rosetta(DE3) cells. In order to understand the mechanism of acti...
متن کاملUreaplasma Urease Genes have Undergone a Unique Evolutionary Process
Ureaplasma, a member of mycoplasmas, has a unique ATP synthesis system, which is coupled to the urea hydrolysis. Urease catalyzes the hydrolysis of urea into carbon dioxide and ammonia. Phylogenetic analyses of the urease genes indicated that Ureaplasma urease genes were not gained by recent horizontal transfer and have a unique evolutionary process. Ureaplasma unique ATP synthesis system leade...
متن کاملMembrane-bound proton-translocating pyrophosphatase of Syntrophus gentianae, a syntrophically benzoate-degrading fermenting bacterium.
Syntrophus gentianae is a strictly anaerobic bacterium which ferments benzoate to acetate, CO2 and H2 in the presence of hydrogen-utilizing partner bacteria. Benzoate is activated by a benzoyl CoA ligase enzyme which forms AMP and pyrophosphate as coproducts. Pyrophosphatase activity was found to be largely membrane bound. Pyrophosphate hydrolysis was associated with proton translocation across...
